The Indonesian government has inaugurated a floating solar power plant (PLTS) in the Cirata Reservoir, West Java. This project is claimed to be the largest in Southeast Asia, with a capacity of 192 MWp. This PLTS is expected to supply clean energy to more than 50,000 households and reduce carbon emissions by up to 214,000 tons per year.
Why is Cirata PLTS important for the future of energy?
This project marks a significant milestone in Indonesia's energy transition. The government is targeting a 23% renewable energy mix by 2025. With the Cirata Solar Power Plant, progress toward this target is becoming increasingly tangible.
The Cirata PLTS is a symbol of Indonesia's commitment to green energy and a low-carbon future.
